![]() Also, I was thinking about making the move back to Firefox because of some other small niggles with Chrome my problems with the 1P extension was the push I needed to finally make the switch. So, in the end, I've moved back to Firefox as 1Password works flawlessly with this browser. And the only way to access my passwords after 1P got stuck, was to quit and restart Chrome - after which 1P would unlock, which wasn't ideal. I'm really hoping Chrome 17 is the magic bullet for you.Īfter trying new profiles with Chrome 16/17 and a different Adblocker, I could minimise the problem, but not make it disappear. Thankfully the majority of cases are resolved with a new profile, but that doesn't do you much good right now. This has been one of the hardest issues to nail down since the cases not resolved by creating a new profile seem to be resolved in almost completely random ways. The problem may not exist when doing that in Chrome 16/17 as it did in version 15. You may have better luck creating a new profile in Chrome 16 or 17 and using Chrome sync to get all your preferences and bookmarks in the new profile. Please do let me know how it goes in Chrome 17. Please let me know how it goes for you in the upgraded version(s) of Chrome!ĭ'oh. We're seeing a higher support volume for this one issue than for almost all other issues combined at the moment. Hopefully once Chrome 16 is pushed into the stable channel all of this will be behind us. As far as we can tell the issue is with Chrome itself rather than any one extension (or combination of them). Thanks for your willingness to help with this. ![]() In extremely rare cases the problem is not resolved until upgrading to Chrome 17. For some users, they find that the issue is only resolved once upgrading to Chrome 16. In most cases, creating a new profile works. JUST ADDED! Install a newer version of Chrome (16 or later) with a fix included. (You've already done this to the maximum amount permitted by law I think.)Ģ. Some additional information I've come across indicates that a change in Chrome 15 is affecting a few extensions, and, unfortunately, there is not a way that we are aware of to fix this apart from one of the following:ġ. I hate to send you on wild goose chases but you've been such a good sport so far. Hopefully this problem will be fixed in a future 1Password/1P Chrome extension. My Mum's mac (with syncing enabled), shows no problems with unlocking. Running the same Chrome profile - with Adblock enabled - from a user account on Doing just this I could still successfully unlock 1Password.ĮDIT: However, I don't think it's solely due to Adblock as even with this disabled, the problem can occur from time to time. I also tried a new profile a second time, but this time didn't install Adblock before syncing bookmarks across. In step 7, after installing Adblock, I was still able to unlock 1Password.Īfter step 8, and syncing just my bookmarks, the problem with unlocking returned. I followed the steps up to number 6 and can report that I had no problems unlocking/testing the 1Password extension at step 6. Your results could really help us narrow this down, so I thank you in advance! Rather than setting up syncing, import your bookmarks from the file you created earlier. Install and test the 1Password extension.ģ. Create yet another new profile in Chrome.Ģ. If you are feeling adventurous, I would also love to get the results of this test from you:ġ. Instead set up syncing in your new Profile to restore your bookmarks and other settings. Please do not import your bookmarks from the file you created in step 1. Install the Adblock extension to test your theory. Please test the 1Password extension before installing any other extension, setting up syncing, or importing your bookmarks. ![]() The previous step is important, so I'll repeat it here. Install the 1Password extension and only the 1Password extension.Ħ. (Instructions are linked from the support article if you need them.)Ĥ. Export your Chrome bookmarks to a file from your current profile. If you are willing to test something for us:ġ. The problem has not been resolved in any case without creating a new profile, but I and others have successfully restored all settings and bookmarks using syncing in Chrome as described in the support article. The issue appears to be related to bookmarks judging by some of the cases I have seen. Restarting with a new Chrome profile seemed to work, but lost all my user settings,ĭid you set up Chrome syncing as described in the aforelinked support article? That is specifically recommended in order to avoid this problem.
